Cytonn Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Cytonn Investments, held its Annual Cytonn Young Leaders Programme (CYLP) Alumni get together on 15th December 2017. The annual get together is one of the activities we have in place to nurture networks and community for CYLP alumni

“As Cytonn, we aim to nurture university graduates and offer them an opportunity for a sharp start to their careers,” said Ann Joseph, Senior Human Resource Associate. She commended the Cytonn Young Leaders Programme for its contribution to helping fresh campus graduates start out their careers.

Victor Ondiwo, CYLP Co-ordinator at Cytonn, gave a brief introduction on the program. “The program was started in January 2015 with 6 Investment interns. To date, 426 university graduates have gone through the program and Cytonn has offered jobs to 180 of them,” noted Victor. “This initiative to bring together the program’s Alumni is aimed at fostering long-term relationships with CYLP participants even after leaving the firm,” he added.

Simon Wamburu, Tuskys HR Manager for Planning and Training, speaking at the event noted, “Unless energy is directed in the right direction, it cannot make an impact on the society.” Drawing examples from the Tusky’s Internship Program, Simon explained that it is important that the youth have a direction, to guide one’s future career. He insisted that the youth should be open to trying new things to achieve their objectives. “It is never too early to do something and it is never too late to do something new,” said Simon.

CYLP alumni also gave their brief remarks on their CYLP experience. “The program is an eye opener as it exposes fresh graduates to the actual work environment. In the program, you learn to be the best at what you do,” said Wacu Mbugua, a CYLP Alumni and a Research Assistant in Cytonn Investments. After the speeches, the alumni got to mingle, connecting with former colleagues and making new friends to build their network.

The CYLP is a 12-week long intensive program by Cytonn Foundation that aims to give university graduates a sharp start to their career through exposing them to the office environment and culture. The Alumni event shall be held annually by the firm with an aim of building the CYLP Alumni Brand and Network.
